Voting Rights

Every American deserves the right to cast their vote. Unfortunately, too many Americans are being denied a vote, either because they don’t have proper identification, live in a marginalized area, served time in prison, or simply cannot make it to a polling station because their boss won’t give them time off work.

This is undemocratic and unconstitutional. Every American citizen should have the right to vote.

We should make it as easy as possible to register and go to the polls. Everyone should have a day off for national elections. We need to extend voting days to include weekends. We must stop politicians from gerrymandering their districts. We should automatically register every citizen to vote when they get their driver’s license or state ID card.

There is no excuse for putting up barriers to keep a large portion of our population from participating in our democracy.
